Riverton High School has a great reading incentive club. Wolverine Readers Club lets students read on their own, and earn wonderful gifts. This is reading above the classroom assignments, I was just told yesterday that Tyler likes to read now. He was able to read what he wanted and gets rewarded for it. Great!!

I totally agree with the comments about the absolute lack of community support for the school system...and it is absolutely true about the horrible attitude that the parents have encouraged. I was born and raised in Riverton and graduated from this school and nothing has changed...but i blame the community and of course the laziness that plagues the community is evident in School District 25. If you want your child to get a good education live in Lander, they have way better schools and a much better loving, caring community attitude.

In a town where community support for the school and its programs is slim, RHS does its best to overcome the difficulty of stubborn students who's parents have raised them to rebel against school authorities. The teachers are somewhat competent, and the management is of the highest quality. No matter what, if the child is willing to seek guidance, there will always be someone here to push them in the right direction. However, they may have to look hard for that person. On the whole, however, I do not hesitate to recommend RHS.

Joanne Flanagan is the greatest principal ever and I loved having Lars Flanagan coach me at basketball. They are both amazing people.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Wyoming administered the Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students (PAWS) in reading, writing and math to students in grades 3 through 8 and 11, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 11. PAWS tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Wyoming. The goal is for all students score at or above the proficient level.
