I feel my child was labelled early in first grade - for no apparent reason. There were no behavior problems before this, and none in her church group presently. Her teacher repeatly tells me that my child is deficient in subjects, but when she does the work at home there is no problem. Only answer I get is that "there are 23 other students in (her) class." I get nowhere in meetings, speaking to other teachers, etc because they very obviously "circle the wagons" so to speak. Even when my child came home very ill with a high temp, the blame was put on her and not the teacher. The teacher's job is to take of the students and teach them. Neither of these conditions are being met in our case.

Our son loved the three years he spent at Nelson Wilks Herron. Made all A's and two B's in the three years he was a student here. His teachers were some of the nicest and hard working people. They were always willing to help in any way they could. He moves on next school term to 4th grade and we know from word of mouth that we can expect the same from his next group of teachers..

We love this school! My step-daughter has ADD/ADHD. When she moved in with us last August, she could barely read and couldn't do much math. By the end of the year, she was on track! They have done a wonderful job with her. We were afraid that she would fail, but she has done great. Her teacher was really patient with her and with us. We were thrilled! Now, she can go to second grade with confidence!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
