Excellent school. If you are looking for free education with private school quality, Ivy Prep is the school for you. Students are addressed as scholars and treated with dignity. Teacher actually want to be there and there is free after school help! No other school for my scholars!!!
Wonderful school - they really are preparing young ladies for college and life!!! Our daughter has blossomed in her 3 years attending school there. They instill avoojntsbility and responsibility for actions and truly push and challenge students to the next level in a creative effective manner.
The school is okay. I mean there is alot of drama but thats what you get by putting a bunch of girls together! Ivy is very good academically, I came in a B C student and im going to 7 th grade an A A+ student (and I was no teachers faveorite!) To the parent that wrote that there are no connections classes such as spainish and P.E. ....THERE ARE! They have spainish taught by Ms. Deloach, P.E. taught by Dr. Waller, Cheerleading coached by Ms. Dudek, Basketball coached by Coach Comer and Dr. Waller, Art Club taught by Ms. Marcovich, knitting and crochet club taught by Ms. Chatel and Ms. Dudek, Student Government, Future Buisiness Leaders of America, and MORE! Ivy Prep is a great school. Of corse you have you occasional drama, but thats because of three things... Its ALL GIRLS, Its a new school, and girls are trying to make themselves known by seeing who's the "baddest". But when you do look back at the year you see great SCHOLARS winning awards at Ivy Honors (I won the Social Studies award, The all A's award, and 'Most Likely to Win an Oscar.) The school will allow your kid to change herself for the better, your kid may just be choosing to focus on other people.
I'm sorry to hear from the parents who had bad experiences at Ivy Prep. I can say firsthand that the faculty and staff of the school take the mission very personally, and the school's record of achievement speaks for itself. Ivy Prep consistently outperform Gwinnett County Public Schools on the CRCT in nearly all subjects areas. For example, in 2012 in the 6th grade alone, the percentage of scholars who met or exceeded standards was 100% in reading, 99% in ELA, 95% in math, 94% in social studies, and 92% in science. In addition, Ivy Prep was the only middle school in Gwinnett County designated "Highest Performing" by the Georgia Department of Education. To be classified as highest-performing, a school s test scores and graduation rates must fall in the top five percent among Title I schools for three consecutive years. With all that said, I know the school is constantly working to improve and welcomes any constructive dialogue from parents that will help make the school even better.
This school is terrible! Period. Just terrible. We had to transfer our daughter after many many dissappointments. Our daughter WAS NOT learning and mastering anything. A big dissappointment. They talk a good game to get you to enroll, but they greatly fall short of delivery and execution!!! Do not waste your time.
We pulled our daughter from Ivy Prep after the 3rd nine weeks this year, which was more than a fair opportunity for Ivy Prep to have proved it's marketing and mission to us and to our daughter - which it had failed to do on all accounts. Unfortunately, I can attest to ALL of the claims of the parent posting on May 17, 2012. In the beginning, Ivy Prep promised a rigorous, college prep education. Our daughter rarely brought home homework and because they do not teach with books, it was difficult to study independently for upcoming tests or quizzes. Grades were weighted in favor of daily work significantly more than testing, which seems a poor way of gauging how well material is being mastered. Our daughter, formerly an A-B student, was doing poorly on tests at Ivy Prep but her overall grades were still B's, and she wasn't learning the material, and did poorly on the CRCT pre-tests, along with the rest of her class. Facilities are marginal, there is no nurse, and student conduct (which they sold us on as being rigid and respectful) was horrid. Many fights and abusive, foul language used by students constantly, all of which are "hushed up" by administration. VERY disappointed.
WARNING:DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE if you care about their academic future. My daughter just wrapped up her second year here Lots of empty promise and smoke and mirror routines of what the parents should expect academically. The school day is 1hr longer and there isn't any type of second languages, P.E. or anything outside of the general mandatory classes. There is also an immense about of fights that are kept hush hush amongst the staff and students. This will leave your child overwhelmed and no longer enthused about school as it has done mines. I have watch this school pretend to be a "junior college" but its more of a publicity stunt. I entered the Ivy world exited but I am leaving disappointed as school is a intricate part of a child's life development and college preparation. DON'T SEND YOUR CHILD HERE.
Ivy prep has dedicated teachers that go above and beyond for their students. The one problem I have is the school SEVERE resources. If you have a kid who is gifted you need to stay away from this school. If you have a kid who is into music, arts, drama, sports you really need to re-think your decision. The school does not offer anything that a regular public school can't offer. In fact they can't even offer half of what a regular school can give you. You have to be very careful when you attend one of their meetings. They are VERY GOOD selling their school concept to newcomers. When you go to their meetings they always mention the end of the year field trip to New York ( a gimmick, this is run by a Smithsonian Travel and is SUPER EXPENSIVE). I swear I feel that I was brainwashed. All those testimonials from parents..blah. If you ask me I deeply regret my decision to put my scholar here. Ivy Prep is average at it's best. Regarding the "challenging" curriculum I have personally seen it and trust me is nothing extraordinary. I give them an A + in School Spirit, a B - in curriculum, a C in facilities and a D - when it comes to school extracurriculars.
This a great school of CHOICE for the most difficult years of a young girls' life based on the schools' core values and curriculum. I can see where they challenge the scholars academically and assist them in being responsible & more importantly respectable young ladies. I am impressed to see that they outperformed their peers within the county on the CRCT tests. That alone shows the dedication of the Teachers, Parents and, the Scholars particularly thru all of the challenges they've had to endure. I love Ivy Prep Academy! I'm pretty sure if other public schools had to go thru the same exact pitfalls they would not be as successful when against all odds.
i love ivy prep this school challenges me to higher levels even though i am in the gifted program this is the school for me i reccommend ivy prep to everyone who has a upcoming middle or high school daughter.
