I think this school is ok. puts alot of stress on IOWA tests.I hate it the stress. Ms. Billingham is ok. I love Ms. Knight.

I am a student observer and college student in the 2nd grade at Alcott and I am continuously impressed on what the children learn on a daily basis. The seven and eight year olds in Ms. Simmons' classroom are wonderfully politically aware and independent, and even have an educated opinion on who they believe should be our president. The resource teacher is patient and amazing. I would love to teach at this school once I graduate college; both the students and the administrators are wonderful!

My son just entered 7th grade and has been a student since KG. I highly recommend Alcott to anyone looking for a terrific public school. Our principal, Mr. Domovic, came on board 4 years ago and really helped to build upon the strenghts of our teaching staff and involved parents. While Alcott was doing ok previously, he provided the motivation to jumpstart a huge growth and improvement in our academic program. He really listens to the teachers and parents and is always willing to try a good idea to improve our school. His door is always open, even to students! He, along with the teachers, respect and support the students while proving appropriate guidance and discipline. I feel like I am part of a big family where everyone has an opportunity to achive and suceed. I love the creativity and innovation the teachers show in the classroom. The stats don't reflect everything.

Our kids have now been going to Alcott for three years (two in the preschool program and finished kindergarten). We have only positive things to say about the teachers and administration. If considering, you must spend some time talking to them to understand the great things going on here.

I am not a parent but a student I love this school I have been coming here from KG and am going to be graduating this year. The teachers are like friends and friends are like a part of your life. I will never forget the class of 2004 and all my teachers.

The principal, Mr. Domovic is wonderful. This school has the best program ever. The parents are well involved and take the education of their children very seriously. It is like being a part of a family. I give this school a perfect ten on: Location Art programs student/teacher involvment The Atmosphere.

Alcott is a diamond in the rough, but definitely moving in the right direction. Through the leadership of a kind, approachable principal who encourages parental involvement on any level (at home or in the classrooms) and the involvement of a great many parents, Alcott is turning around. Many parents have come together to volunteer in any way they're needed, raise funds, etc. The children are very happy at Alcott, and challenged appropriately. There are also some great efforts to integrate fine arts into the curriculum, as well as some extra-curricular activities such as ballet and tap dancing lessons. The statistics about the school don't accurately reflect what's happening at Alcott. It's a good little school.
