great staff, good leadership, parent mentor program helps parents become more involved in their childs education and children get the added support they need to be successful and want to learn.
I have had my children enrolled at Talman Elementary since they where able to enter the Pre-K program that is offered at the School. Teachers there are great! They take those extra steps needed to make sure your children achieve their goals. Throughout the years there have been new programs implemented to create a better learning environment, and the entire staff works as a team while encouraging parent involvement within the school for a well rounded education stemming from home. It may be a small school, but it is a great school! Thank you, Ms.Medina and Mr.Schaffner
All of my children have attended Talman since it first open it's doors as a public school. Talman has always been a great school, but I have to say it has excelled so much more with the new principal and asst. principal (Ms. Medina and Mr. Shauffner). Test scores continue to increase and this is due to the dedication and very hard work the excellent teachers go through with the students. My favorite new rule is that if students do not turn in their homework, they will have detention. Believe me, this has worked out perfect, students are actually turning in more homework assignments. Talman elementary is soon going to be one of the top schools in chicago, if we keep going the way we are. Thank you, Ms. Medina and Mr. Shauffner for all your hard work and dedication for turning talman around into an excellent school.
Talman Elementary is a great school, my children have improved a lot in their education.I'm so greatfull that we chose this school! I want to thanks all the staff member. I hope that they continue working hard to keep this school as the better school in the neiborhood. Thank you.
I think Talman is an ok school, but it lacks the availability of extracurricular activities for children to get involed in. As far as academics, I can only speak for my son's kindergarten teacher's academic layout, I've never knew that Talman was a dual language at least it is in my son's classroom, and I really like it because eventhough we are a hispanic family my son did not spoke a word of Spanish and now he can count up to a 100 and speaks more Spanish now, so I guess I am happy with the quality of academic that my son is getting. The level of parent involement is very limited, I ve notice that when there's an event limited amount or I should say only a group of parents get invited. Overall Talman Elementary is a good school.
Programs at talman school are very intresting and new. just last week I got to go to a native american center to meet the famous geese bend quilters and quilt my own square with other students from the other side of the city I probably wouldent have a chance to meet. Talman is a small, safe, alternative to a school where everyone gets lost in. teachers work very close with students and parents. It is the ideal school.
