This school is ABSOLUTELY no place for children to attend. Even though the principal is no longer there, they have a new one. This Principle still allows the teacher's to treat students unfairly. I agree with the other parents the last principle had some SERIOUS ISSUES. IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO THRIVE, AND BE AN AWESOME PERSON DONT SEND HIM/HER TO THIS SCHOOL THEY NEED TO CLOSE IT.

Concerned parent, I just moved into the area and have tried calling the main office and no one replies this is the first time by the way I have older children that have attended schools and the attendants at the main office would respond briefly to the phones by pressing 0 not going towards voicemail. This school should be reputed by the complaints here to the better business bureau.

I used to work here. Personal vendettas are the principal's priority. If you voice that you do not agree with him, he targets to make your life miserable. He micromanages everything and staff does not have liberty to make professional decisions about curriculum. He writes people up for crazy things too! I think the principal is mentally unstable and don't understand how he still has a job there.

Terrible principal. His first priority is to display power and help his friends. No regard for quality of education, parental concerns, keeping good teachers, or what should be the top priority -- the students.

I am a former teacher I relocated to another state. North River is one of the best schools I have worked with. The teachers really care about students. The students are well behaved. Learning is taking place and the children are encouraged to do their best. The principal is professional and strives for excellence. He also encourages and makes his teaching staff feel valuable. Great leadership=Excellent School.

I have a child in special education who has now has his teacher switched twice in the last two years. There is a culture of laziness supported by the principal and a complete disregard for the needs of special education students. The principal clearly values his friendships with the staff more than the needs of the students. In addition, the principal has taken special needs supplies out of the room and has required the special education students to take on additional students, not part of their program. When I tried to contact him about why my son's teacher was being replaced, he told me "it was not subject to discussion." He has also gone on vendettas, abusing his power, to ensure that the replaced teachers cannot find work. Bottom line: the students well-being and education, especially the special education students, are not a priority at this school and I think that the principal is a little mentally imbalanced, or at least on a power trip. Stay away!

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
