Math grades based on quantity, not quality. Grades based on how many math equations can be completed in less than a minute, rather than knowledge & accuracy. Is this statewide? Crazy! Incidents of bullying are not handled seriously by most teachers ("kids will be kids" attitude; report it to guidance & stick with it or forget about effective action taken). Children are confined to the parent drop-off area & a ridiculously small playground area for recess, when there is a huge fenced in field next to the school which could be utilized for outdoor activities. The school board are the poorest of decision makers when it comes to delays/closings for inclement weather. They don't bother to wait until the day of to see what the weather is actually like, but rather jump the gun & close the day prior, based on forecasts. So far, Easter break cancelled, next, reduced summer break. They even close and delay school for cold weather here (roads clear, no precipitation-doesn't matter)! I've already begun inquiring about alternative schools outside of the district, or maybe homeschooling. Ready to move back up to NY!
East Stroudsburg Elementary has been flagged by the State as a failing school. We were given a choice to remove our child from the school because of the failure rate. The Principal is crazy and can't seem to handle disciplinary issues fairly. Some teachers are good but if your child happens to get a teacher who is not good then you are doomed. So far had a 50-50 okayish experience with this school.
E.S.E is very good school, the curriculum challenges the students, the parent teachers association is very involved and the principal is AWESOME!!! I encourage all of you to keep up the good work. 'It takes a village to raise a child'.
I love E. Stroudsburg elementery because, The teachers and staff really care about all of their students and strive to make sure each and everyone of them have the tools necessary to succeed to the next level where the students are met with the same enthusiasm to help with the next step. ESE Rocks !
My daughter started her first year of Kindergarten at ESE and she did great! She had the most wonderful and dedicated teachers to break her out of her shell. In the beginning of the year she was very quiet and did not participate in class much at all and by the second semester she was motivated and driven to be and do her best! ESE is a wonderful school and I look forward to this upcoming year!
'No playground equipment!' That is my children's cheif complaint. Apparently the district left the playground equipment up to the PTO. And, they are not allowed to speak during Lunch. This is a newly built school that is 3 stories tall. And seems designed more for Middle or Highschoolers than elementary Students. Oh, There seems to be plenty of room for Athletic fields. There is little parking left over for parents after the Teachers/Staff arrive. What were they thinking? This is a school built for approx 800 students with the tinyest cafeteria I have ever seen. Just like any school, you have different teachers w/different teaching styles. Challenge classes are available. The PTO has done an excellent job raising funds for the children and that playground the school so desperately needs.
