Senior Product Marketing Manager

We are looking for a results-oriented, product marketing professional to join our A-team and help us achieve our mission of improving educational outcomes for kids by inspiring and supporting parents to be their champions. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for increasing the adoption and use of our digital media products via inbound and outbound marketing. Our product portfolio includes consumer-facing products (digital tools and content that help families make informed decisions about where to enroll their children in school and how best to support learning at home), business-facing products (data products aimed at media and real estate verticals), and school-facing products (marketing and recruiting solutions for K-12 schools and school systems). This position reports to the VP of Marketing - she's a great lady.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify customer pain points, value propositions, competitive differentiators, and develop product positioning statements; create the "voice" of the product to address core user needs
  • Conceive, develop, and execute effective go-to market / launch plans for new products and services as well as innovative marketing programs that drive increased demand for existing products
  • Develop effective marketing materials (one-sheets, whitepapers, case studies/success stories, advertisements, emails, demos, blogs, infographics, webinars, and PPTs)
  • Represent GreatSchools at key conferences and events (~ 4-6 per year)
  • Use analytics to constantly evaluate the ROI of your tactics; experiment through A/B testing, segmentation/targeting; course correct marketing programs as needed

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • BA / BS, MBA a plus
  • 5+ years B2C marketing experience with digital media products or services; B2B marketing experience helpful
  • Knowledge of parenting, education, and/or crowdsourcing digital media products a plus
  • Experience creating marketing plans which encompass business strategy, market segmentation, customer insights, go to market plans, etc.
  • Experience executing integrated marketing programs across a range of marketing channels, including web, search, email, mobile, social, video, blog, print, webinars, PR events/conferences/tradeshows, etc.
  • Experience creating a broad range of sales marketing tools, collateral, and programs
  • Outstanding written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Strong marketing copy writing skills, with the ability to make language "pop"

Senior Communications Manager

We are looking for an energetic, communications go-getter to help us achieve our mission of improving educational outcomes for kids by inspiring and supporting parents to be their champions. In this pivotal role, you will support fundraising, mission impact and brand building by helping define the ideas that communicate the story of GreatSchools and bringing them to life in a consistent, compelling and memorable way. This will include developing internal and external materials for a range of audiences: education influencers, current and prospective funders, partners, parents and teachers, schools and school systems, corporations, media, staff and volunteers.

Strong candidates will be assertive, versatile, and work well in a fast-paced environment.

This position reports to the VP of Marketing and directly supports the CEO and Director of Development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to brand message development and management. Work with CEO, leadership team, board members and outside advisors to ensure that we have crisp and compelling messaging that describes who we are, what we do and why we are successful.
  • Create and edit effective communications and collateral materials (e.g. case studies/success stories, corporate newsletters, demos, blog entries, webinars, annual reports, pamphlets/brochures, one-sheets, whitepapers, and PPTs), coordinating with appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Develop and execute proactive public relations campaigns that raise the visibility of the organization and build our brand among potential funders, sponsors and partners as well as the public at large, with an emphasis on deepening relationships in key communities and states to further our mission.
  • Serve as the primary point person for day-to-day media relations efforts, working with external advisors, PR firms, our management team and designated GreatSchools spokespeople.
  • Contribute to grant proposals and reports by providing core language to describe the organization and its accomplishments and ensuring that the documents are well-organized and persuasive.
  • Ensure the "About Us" section of our website, our corporate blog, and our official social media programs promote the ideas we want to be known for and reflect the organization's core values, mission and vision.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • BA / BS, Masters a plus
  • 5+ years' experience in marketing communications, media relations, or related field for a high-visibility national organization
  • Background in education and experience with foundation relations preferred
  • Superior written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive prose

Vice President, Local Engagement

The VP, Local Engagement helps advance community efforts to engage parents in their children's learning at home and in school by creating the conditions for the GreatSchools technology platform to satisfy the particular needs of communities across the country. With a seat on the Leadership Team, this role entails overall responsibility for building community partnerships, developing the local engagement program, developing funding streams and managing the Local Engagement team, with staff currently in the San Francisco Bay Area, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, and Washington DC. This position is well suited to an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader who has successfully built broad community support for high-visibility K-12 education initiatives in a variety of locations.

This position will require 10 - 50% travel.

Responsibilities:

    Community partnerships:

    • Cultivate a broad base of productive relationships with organizations and individuals who influence the quality and range of K-12 education options and directly serve families in specific communities across the country.
    • Creatively develop new and existing partnerships to advance the mutual interests of parents, communities, partners and GreatSchools.
    • Help others understand the value of GreatSchools by speaking at events and with the press, serving on panels, contributing to social media and participating as a thought-leader for the organization.

    Program development:

    • Identify and articulate community needs related to helping parents make informed school choice decisions and support learning at home and in school.
    • Lead planning and design of the local engagement program to facilitate ongoing improvement of digital information and services for parents and stakeholder organizations.
    • Increase the number of families and communities that benefit from GreatSchools services by leading the process of prioritizing regional focus areas, defining the scope of work within each location, and leading organizational efforts to expand to new locations and introduce new services in existing communities of focus.
    • Work with key staff throughout GreatSchools to ensure alignment between the local engagement efforts and other organizational priorities.
    • Lead local revenue efforts by setting targets and supporting team efforts to reach those targets, primarily through local fundraising and sponsorship.

    Team Management:

    • Manage Local Engagement team of program coordinators and community organizers, currently located in Indianapolis, Milwaukee, San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, DC.
    • Recruit and develop team members to carry out the GreatSchools mission in communities across the nation.
    • Serve as member of GreatSchools national Leadership Team.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years experience involving program development and management, government relations, private sector and community engagement
  • Distinguished track record of achievement in at least two of the following areas: education, parenting and digital media
  • Highly entrepreneurial, results-oriented, bridge builder
  • Understanding of a broad range of education data and policy issues and their implications for gauging and improving student outcomes
  • Deep contacts in K-12 education, nationally and in individual cities and states
  • Demonstrated ability to build broad-based partnerships in multiple communities

Data Associate

We are currently seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, data-loving, Excel whiz to join our growing team. This is an entry-level position with opportunity for growth that provides positive exposure to many cross-functional units (data, engineering, UX, design, product management, marketing, editorial, sales, and more) within a mission-driven organization focused on the role of parents in PreK-12 education.

This position reports to the Director of Data Strategy within the Business Insights team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain contacts with data providers and acquire school performance data files.
  • Clean, transform, and load data into the database, and configure for display on website.
  • Write explanations for each data point that are easily understandable to our parent audience.
  • Conduct thorough QA on the display of data and explanations.
  • Serve as point of contact for data-related user inquiries and provide customer service on issues related to data quality.
  • Develop and maintain rigorous data quality control standards.
  • Contribute to data-related editorial content, such as articles and newsletters.
  • Coordinate other data-related special projects as needed, working with engineering and other internal groups.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and work with product managers and data engineers to implement.

Senior Software Engineer

You'll be responsible for designing and building web application features with a focus on the server side. You excel at Java fundamentals, know your SQL, and can find your way around Spring MVC and Hibernate. You enjoy tinkering with JavaScript and jQuery!

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Accountant

We are looking for a part-time (30 hours/week) accountant who will provide support to our Accounting Manager. Experience in accounting operations and familiarity with SAGE MIP and Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices and respond to inquiries
  • Review and process expense reimbursements
  • Process monthly corporate credit card charges and reconcile against statements
  • Track and maintain records for fixed assets
  • Prepare monthly accruals, depreciation and journal entries
  • Assist with AR collections and processing cash receipts
  • Assist with day-to-day accounting tasks and special projects such as tax and audit preparation, year-end 1099 forms issuance, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain accounting and finance files

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' relevant accounting experience
