I went to this school in it's previous location from 94-96. The only thing I learned was how to sit in a "time out room" (really just a 8'x10', completely empty room with a wood floor, and no door knob on the inside) for up to all day, for horrible offenses such as not doing my work as soon as Tom Beers said to, or talking out of turn. I only hope the school has gotten better, and that the Tacoma school district realizes locking up children isn't a solution. If your child goes to this "school", and they still have the "time out rooms" find another school, and if the district won't work with you, get a lawyer.

My daughter is new to this school. Just two weeks, so far. While Park Ave. is a temporary placement for behaviorally challenged kids, I kind of wish she could stay. My daughter has made progress in this short time and to me, that speaks volumes. (It also warms my heart to see her proud of herself.) The staff that I have come to know are wonderful, caring and dedicated people.
