This is my first year at the school and Im pretty happy with it. My daughter is going to kinder and she is very happy as well. The teachers and the staff are very nice the Principal is very reachable and never had a problem contacting him. Their enrichment program is very good. Im looking forward for next year! I sure recommend this school!
Expecting the best this school year, this is my daughter's second year in broward community charter and we are very pleased with the education, the communication and everything in school. Strongly recommend this school
My 2010-2011 experience en this school has been excellent, very good teachers, very good communication w/ the principal, teachers and office staff. My daughter is super happy and learning a lot and will not change schools for nothing. !!!!
This is my 6th year in this school. I started here when the school was at the east campus. I must say that there has been a lot of changes since and most not good. The school grade has gone from an A to a C. That is very disappointing. I'll definitely pull my children out at the end of this school year. It will be a big change for all of us but we'll deal. The principal was easily approachable before but now, it's like he is avoiding facing parents and what the school has become. Some of us need some assurance or explanation as to how things are going to be improved upon. I expected more but any how, it's a shame that it has to come to this.
Very good School, My daughter is going to Kindergarten, Very good communication with the teachers, the principal and the front office. My daughter is very happy.
Horrible!!!! This school is completely disorganized. No communication!! teachers are ok at best!! I was completely disappointed!!! They always have openings which is no surprise at all!!!
I have had my child in this wonderful school since kindergarden she is know in third grade, and if I had to choose again I wouldnt think twice about it..being able to comunicate with everyone in the school is great. There is alot of parent, teacher, student involvement.. I coudn't be happier. Antoinette
As a parent at BCCS-West I am truly happy with the teachers at this school. They are dedicated, supportive and committed. It is too bad that administration is not. Administration is more concerned with their idle chit chat than supporting the very reason they are in existence, the students and teachers. Administration allows a parent to offer car detailing once a week and charge $15.00 for the service. Half supposedly goes back to the school, but I am sure that barely covers the water and electric usage for this service. Since when do parents get to run businesses out of their child's school? Please get your priorities together and put the students and teachers first.
A PTO's JOb is Fundraising for the school and that is why they talk about money. Last year in the small building there were computers in every room. Eventually there will be computers in every room and/or a computer lab, The Library will be done by the end of the year. There are still several positions open on the PTO, so if anyone is interested in doing something other than Fundraising and/r complaining than they are more than welcone to join the Board and help out. Parent Participation is very big at a Charter School. A Charter School is a Choice. The Building is New and needs a lot of things. The Principal is there from 7am till 9pm almost every single day working for our children. It is really an excellent school having growing pains. Get involved..
I can rate this school because we are new in this school as well. The truth is I am very disappointed about this school too. The school is very unorganized. But I also say it to myself: the school is new, and I will give them time. My kid did not get what they suppose to get at his grade level. They do not have enough class book to study, no equipment at all, no library, no computer, etc.... And all they need and talk about at PTO is Money
I put my child in a charter school thinking he would get a better education than in a public. I was wrong. This school has become disorganized & chaotic under the new management. The teachers seem stressed & unhappy most of the time. For these & other reasons, I decided to put my child in public school this year. My child was always on the honor roll each year. Now I find out he is behind the other public school kids in math because he was not taught certain things at the charter school. So much for charter schools giving our children a better education!
Continuing my review.. the staff that are there wear multiple hats.. they do try hard and seem to care a lot, but it seems that it is an impossible job. There is never enough money to fund the school or the programs it needs. The school has now been bought out by another company that will run the school next year.Hopefully this will improve the situation, but who knows.. I am moving my children to the A rated public school near my house.
I am very pleased with the school. The teachers are excellent and so is the ancillary staff. The Principal is very dedicated and a good man. My son has excelled. The academic program is also very good. They use Saxon Math. I am not worried about PE. He does have PE everyday and plays soccer etc in the field next to the school. There is excellent communication between the staff and parents. What other school can you go to where the staff / Principal knows your name, your childs name and how he is doing in school. That is for every student.
This school has okay teachers. The teachers seem to be not too happy all the time and do not say hello if you are around the school. I have seen some teachers in the lower grades to be unkind to the children and talking down on them, which I do not approve of. Overall, I would recommend another school for my child to be at next year.
No PE teacher. Classroom teacher is the PE teacher. Classroom teacher is also the music teacher. Art projects not very exciting...mostly drawings, although this is an 'arts school'. Parental involvement is good because they must volunteer 30 hours for the year or pay $15/hour. Atmosphere is very friendly and warm. Office staff and principal are very nice. Academics could be better. Small environment is nice and kids are not 'just a number'. No library. Overall, I think that if a child can emotionally handle attending a regular non-charter public elementary school, he/she will be better off academically.
Thank you,BCCS West, for another wonderful year. My children love the school. I'm very happy with the quality of the academic programs, the administration, and the teachers.
Overall I am happy with the school. My daughter has improved academically and is more confident. I like that every time I have a question the office staff is very helpful and the principal is always available. I just think her teacher needs to be a little more organized.
