Our school is wonderful! They have done such a great job in giving the parents the freedom to teach their children but ensuring that children meet the state's standards (we as parent educators don't have to worry about that). It's hard to pair educational freedom with meeting standards - especially when "standards" are not always important to parents who homeschool their children. We are bound by them, yet feel that we have to meet the Common Core Standards. There is so much more to learn - such a vast and rich amount of knowledge for our children to acquire and yet they are educationally oppressed by busy work in traditional schools. This school operates "out of the box" and has done an outstanding job in partnering with parents to teach our children. Children really do LEARN something! This is an "untraditional" and exceptional school for families who want something different for their kids.

This is our second year attending Coastal Academy and we're loving it! Such a great community of kids, teachers and parents. There are so many enrichment opportunities made available at Coastal Academy that just aren't possible at traditional public schools. We are thrilled our children are receiving such a well rounded education.

This is my second year sending my children to Coastal Academy and the more time I am at the school the more I fall in love with it. The teacher/parent partnership is invaluable. The school combines homeschooling with in-classroom schooling and I really do feel like my children are getting the best of both worlds. The staff is so dedicated to the kids and parents and there is always a great energy about the campus. I feel very fortunate to be able to send my kids to this charter school! Highly recommend.

My daughter is in 8th grade and loves this school!! That alone says a lot. She hated our public middle school for a long list of reasons. Coastal is a charter school that is extremely well-run. They don't use the online K-12 system that's advertised on TV; we tried that 2 years ago and it has way too many flaws. The curriculum at Coastal is far superior - they use a variety of sources and the curriculum is well-crafted, well thought out, and coordinated. For example, assignments in Writing are intertwined sometimes with work in Science, and sometimes with work in History The teacher-student ratio at Coastal is excellent, communication between the school/teachers and parents is easy and welcome, and one of my daughter's favorite things is that the kids rarely use swear words - probably because there are always adults nearby. Coastal also offers more options for things like music, art, and drama. There are several different "tracks." "C-track" is home-schooling, and "M-track" is for 7th and 8th grades and helps transition the kids from home-schooling into high school: they work at home on Monday & Friday and attend school T, W and Th, and it works really well.

The school has programs to fit just about every kid needs, I signed my son in different ones , until finally found the one that serves him the best, we won't find this in any other school.He is happy and so am I.

This program is amazing! The kids are at school 2 days a week and homeschooled the other 3 days. We love it! My child gets the socialization she needs and the academic one on one attention that challenges her at home. if you are thinking about trying this program, do it!

Coastal Academy is an amazing school! The administrators, teachers and parents understand how important a well-rounded education is and implement ideas into classes that cater to all children's learning styles. They support us as we home-school our children with engaging curriculum supplied by the school and also encourage us to use curriculum we find on our own. Coastal Academy wants our children to become Thinkers, Creators and Achievers and they are succeeding!

We have been at Coastal for the last 7 years. It has grown so much, but is still to me the best of both worlds for my children where they can get onoe on one time at home and then also have a clasroom setting the other days of the week. our school feels like a family and is awesome!

The environment is one of inclusion. It is a school that believes in partnering with the parents, and it feels that way. There is so much support and individualized care for each student. There is a wealth of people ready to support each child and their family. You simply cannot ask for more. What a difference it makes to individualize learning to each child instead of trying to bring each child to conforming to the teaching.

Coastal Academy is a true find. It gives us the flexibility we want along with the support we need. TCA allows me to teach my kids at their own pace with the curriculum that best suits them. When I need some answers or some help, the staff is right beside me to offer suggestions and advice. There are so many extras that it's tough to choose. And the parent community is exceptionally active and supportive. We love our school!

Our family loves everything about Coastal Academy: the parent involvement, the rigorous academics, the ability to attend classes while homeschooling, the staff and administration, and the ever growing and changing program offerings. My oldest son graduated after 6 years at Coastal and 4 years at CAHS and is studying Mechanical Engineering at R.I.T. My second son is graduating this year after 8 years at Coastal and 4 years at CAHS and playing Varsity Football. He has plans to attend Palomar's firefighting training program and then transfer to UCLA for his bachelor's degree. My youngest son attended Coastal for 9 years and is a sophomore at CAHS. He recently joined the swim team and is participating in the musical theater production of Footloose. Nothing is ever status quo at Coastal Academy. The parents and students make a difference, have a say, and will feel their impact in the decisions of the administration. We loved the school, the program, the staff, the field trips,... ALL OF IT!

This is an absolutely amazing school! I am so happy that we found out about it, my kids will definitely never be going to a "regular" public school for their education. Coastal has the best faculty around. The principal Mrs. Perez is so involved with the kids. It is so refreshing to see her outside every morning helping kids out of their cars and regularly seeing her checking into my daughters classroom. The teachers are also wonderful and extremely helpful. They are definitely there to help your child get the best education possible. The office staff is also amazing, helpful and so nice! For those who don't know, Coastal is part homeschool, part workshop. They also have a full time homeschool program. Yes, you as a parent have to put time and effort into your child's education. I as a parent, wouldn't have it any other way! Coastal also provides tons of sports, electives, fieldtrips and clubs. This is truly a great school and if you are willing to give your child the best possible education, this is a great place to do it!
