My son is in 8th grade at SHB. We could not be more pleased with the quality of the academics, sports programs, and spiritual and social development our son has received. In the beginning I was not fully convinced that a single sex school would benefit him. An environment where the faculty and staff know how to deal with the developing boy made a significant difference in middle school. The school cultivates leadership and confidence in the boys in a way that appreciate the gender differences as they develop. While the school is single sexed the community is mixed boys and girls with the Convent School. As we now begin thinking of high school, the school has a dedicated faculty member who guides the boys thru the application process and provides counseling to both student and parents regardless of what school the boys wish to attend. More evidence that they are looking out for the welfare of the child. Finally, for our son, having a solid and diverse sports program has been critical to his development in middle school. The coaching staff is top notched and EVERYONE plays at all levels. I give the school my highest rating.

My son, wife and I love this school. Of all the independent schools in San Francisco we visited and were accepted to, Stuart Hall has, by far, been the best for our family. The head master is a strong and inspiring leader. The teachers we have experienced are top notch, committed, love their job and love our boys. For us, Stuart Hall finds a great balance between strong academics, social, moral and cultural development for our son.

This schools is very snobby. They are very misleading through the admissions process. They only have very few openings. In order to get in you have to right a bigger check, how else could they properly assess a 5 year old.

The best. I would not have put my two boys in any other school in the city - brand new state-of-the art classrooms in a beautiful setting of old San Francisco mansions. The teachers are ideal - we're very happy.

It's been a wonderful experience. We love the same-sex classroom education, but it's also great that it's part of the 4-school community so girls and older kids are part of the picture. The instruction is excellent.

We have been happy with this school overall. Quality teaching staff and administration. The kids get all the extras like music, language, etc even at this young age. It is a catholic school, but the religion element is tempered and not overbearing. It is pricey but not out of line for a quality private school. Tuition has steadily gone up. In addtion, it is asked of every family to give more, and of course there are the usual and many fund raising events throughout the year.

Stuart Hall continues to produce students that are 'the best young gentlemen around'. I t doesn't matter if the student is Catholic, Jewish or Buddhist, the kids seem to respect each other and have a well-rounded background. I noticed that many of the alumni are still friends which shows the bond that these kids establish at a young age that is important for their future. The unique size of the school allows all chldren to participate and there is no way to hide. What a great school if you can get your son in.
