My sons have been going to young leaders academy for three years and I can honestly say that the teachers they had was awesome. The gifted for talented program is a very good and I like it, Its a shame that the name maybe changing.

Sad to say that unfortunately after 10 years of being a parent at this school, I am now on great school in search of a different school for my younger children. I have been with the school almost from the beginning and since the past 3 years or so, things have began to tumble. The teachers seem to have lost their enthusiasm and interest for teaching. The new principal and new appointed roles of leadership, seem to be lacking the once sound structure I was use to for many years. I am sorry to move on, but I feel I need to find a school that is progressing and stimulating my kids minds. And right now I just feel like this is not happening anymore. I pray they can be able to pick it back up and get on track. So disappointing to see the low test scores on here.

I have to agree with the previous parents review. When my kids started YLA was an awesome school but now it is mediocre at its best. The teacher/student involvement has went down greatly. The new principal does not seem to be in the forefront at all. Sadly thing have went downhill since under Ronn Johnson leadership which says a lot with all of the charges he is facing.

Horrible! They're have been a lot of changes over the last few years and this school is now extremely disappointing. The new principle doesn't seem to really care about the kids. He never spoke to myself or my husband when we walked in the school..very haughty. I would not suggest that anyone send their child to this school.

My daughter started there as a K4 student and her experience there as a student encouraged me to become a part of the staff. I am overwhelmed with the response and amount of love my child has received as part of being a student here. Education and discipline is what they teach these children and train them to do it for themselves so school life will be a little less difficult for them. The principle and staff train them for success in and environment! I'm extremely excited to be a part of the staff and my child to be a part of success! Thank you to you all!

I love the way the teachers are involved in the kids learning abilities and also how involved they are. This was my childrens first year and they love it and so I love that they love being there. I have seen a better attitude of learning from them both.

My children have attended YLA since it was built. My 20 year old graduated from there in 2005 and is now completing his 2nd year in college. My 16 year old graduated from YLA in 2009 and is finishing his sophomore year in high school. The confidence and discipline he learned gave him the courage to audition for American Idol and make it on National TV to Hollywood week and the top 100 singers in the nation! My youngest son, 13 is now in the 7th grade at YLA. He has attended since K-4. This is the best school ever! All three have remained on the honor roll, and have a since of responsibility, not only to themselves, but to their community as well. I applaud Young Leaders Academy and the great job they have done thus far! I am proud and honored to belong to such a wonderful family! Mr. Johnson is the best ever! I would recommend this school to anyone! I am almost sorry that I only have one more year left!

I am a proud parent and grandparent of three YLA students (one child and two grandchildren). This school has high expectations for our children to insure that they are challenge with every learning opportunity possible. My daughter has made a vast improvement in her grades since attending YLA. I am a witness to this school s advanced curriculum as compared to most parochial and public schools. I often tell parents about enrolling their child to this school. If you want your child to have the greatest learning experience, send them to the Young Leaders Academy!

I currently have two children attending YLA, and I am very well pleased with the progress of both my children. My son, who's currently in the 5th grade, has been attending YLA since K-5. Every year has been a bit of a struggle with trying to keep him focused and in task, but this year, I truly can say that I didn't have to do most of the hard-work by myself, because of his wonderful 5th grade teacher who kept him in line and more focused than he usually is. My daughter's teacher and teacher assistant are wonderful as well. They're really teaching my children, and I can tell! What an outstanding group of faculty! They really put their all into teaching and it shows! Keep up the good work!!!!

As a 10 years student, I am very grateful for all that the Young Leaders Academy instilled upon me. I know that this school has spontaneous teachers that truly cares for the students no matter their back round or race. Young Leaders Academy has great academic programs such as the Gifted and Talented program, which I'm currently enrolled in. The GT program has gotten me ready for high school and even college. As for the principal, he has been like a father to me and I thank him for that, he is a very true, loving, and caring person.

YLA provides students with excellent opportunities that are not offered in any other learning environment. It allows students to be a part of many learning activities outside the classroom. The students are given the support they need to be truly successful and to find themselves. They are given all the tools they need to be prepared for high school and for an education beyond the high school level. With the help of dedicated parents and staff, students grow as a whole person, not just academically. The staff is extremely dedicated to helping the students reach their full potential.

Young Leader's Academy is a purposeful learning environment for the academic and character delvelopment of each of its students. The students are taught and modeled the value of learning and the necessity of education; including higher education. College is introduced in kindergarten and discussed as non-optional, as the students spend their time at YLA becoming life long learners.

I have been a teacher at YLA for 3 years. YLA provides a different kind of education for today's youth. With teachers and staff always willing to go the extra mile for their students, our students receive a first-class education. In all that we do, we do it with our students and their families in mind. We are not a "perfect" school but we strive for perfection daily.

I am a teacher at this school and would recommend this school to others highly. I have seen excellent, qualified, teachers and administration at this school continue to go the extra mile for the students. The students are engaged, safe, and constantly learning in this environment. It is a joy to work at this school everyday to inspire our youth to be citizens of the world. If you want your child to be inspired, learn, and be developed as a complete person come join our school. Additionally, if you want your child to go to college come to YLA.

I've been teaching for ten years and have worked in a number of different schools. In all my years, I have never worked with a more commmited group of teachers. There is a genuine care and concern for the the whole child and that's the difference. Everyone is here for the students and the students alone.

I have worked here for seven years, and I can honestly say at this school the families we service COME FIRST! As a staff member I have been very blessed to be a part of the vision of the Young Leaders Academy. The administrators have been very supportive and the staff is second to none. We are YLA and we strive to be the number one Academy in the nation. At YLA we are creating citizens of the world. Mrs. Mann K-4 Educator.

Young Leaders Academy is an excellent school. The school is very competitive with top schools in academics and producing leaders who are ready for new challenges as they enter high school. The students are challenged to think outside of the box and are shown how to represent themselves as good citizens in society.

My daughter has attended YLA since first grade and I am amazingly proud of everything the school has taught my daughter. The school is very family-oriented and offers a variety of programs for their students. My daughter graduates next year, and I don't have a clue where to send her for high school to keep her in line with what YLA has to offer!! I am currently working with her teacher and principal with that, though!! They also offer great programs for top leaders in the school, such as Discovering Our Destiny and YLA's 50 Top Men. Overall, I would recommend YLA to all parents who want their child to have a great education and great opportunities in life.

Young Leaders Academy is the BEST thing that ever happened to me and my son. Before I enrolled my son, I visited some of the "best" schools in the city. I kept coming back to YLA! When you walk into the door, there is a feeling like no other. The expectations for students AND parents are high. There are proven results with the expectations. The concept of leadership is embodied in everything they do. This is the "Harvard" of K-8 Education!

As a parent I have been very satisfied with the level of preparation my son has for the next level of education. He has been challenged to stretch and take on new methods of thinking. He has been surrounded by a nurturing team of academic professionals who have been brutally honest when necessary. He and I are confident that he is ready for high school and beyond!

My Review on the school is outstanding.. I was very impress with the school achievements, academics, parent involvement and how well the kids are disciplined. This is by far one of the best schools my child has attended. I would recommend this school to anyone. I think all Milwaukee Public/Private schools should come out and visit and observe the teachers, Principle as well as the students for themselves. They might learn something from them, they have my vote and I very proud to say that my child attends YLA! Keep up the good work!
